I am a thinker. I have an insatiable curiosity about most things in life and an obsessive drive to learn everything about a subject when it interests me. This led to a life full of various pursuits in different fields without any real accomplishment in any of them
. I am currently an older student majoring in biology and chemistry. I also enjoy working with my hands. I'm trying to find my way back to being a thinker-doer, where I don't on think and learn but actually execute projects, build and create!
I tend to form an opinion about things after reflection and analysis and not based on ideals or preconceived notions (even if at first glance they seem close to my heart). And I'm usually like that regarding all aspects of life. This is especially true when scientific evidence supports or disproves a claim. I'll always go with the science
For example, my politics are left wing and liberal with a firm belief in certain aspects of socialism. That's because the philosophy of "live and let live" together with the philosophy of "helping your neighbor" creates a society of happy individuals each productive in their own way. A productive society leads to a stronger economy and more advances which in return benefit me and create a better future for everyone!
Most times, I don't believe in caring what other people think. But at the same time, I'm good at adapting to various social and cultural situations. I believe in being considerate to the beliefs and customs of others. I'm an agnostic atheist, but I see the importance religion plays in the lives of others and how their faith helps them cope. I must respect that! Who am I to tell them otherwise?
I love nature and the outdoors, taking hikes and camping out. I love to travel. And although I haven't traveled much, I plan on traveling much more. I enjoy the experience of not only seeing different places, but experiencing cultures through their food, music and customs. It's the only way to realize how rich life can be in all its variety on this pale blue dot we call home!
As to the the headline to my profile. I've adopted a new philosophy in life, better late than never. I decided to stop feeling frustrated about missed opportunities and time wasted. So I've picked up the guitar again (always wanted to learn) and I'm brushing up on my French (with hopefully more new languages in the future). I'm also taking care of my health (which I've neglected for far too long) and hope to run either a marathon or a triathlon in a year or so! I've also recently gotten interested in animation, film making and sound recording and hope to make educational videos as a hobby in the near future.
Why am I here? I'm currently in a relationship, and I'm here for friends. I'm hoping to make friends from all over the world. Friends who share the same way of thought or who share similar interests.
Have you ever wanted to live on Mars? How about we discuss what it would take to build an enclosed, self-sustaining ecosystem there! Or, even better, build some projects related to those ideas! Are you into film making or education? I'd love to talk to you about how to better integrate the two in order to educate the masses. If you're into fitness, I could always use an accountability partner.
