Ever since I read the late Carl Sagans book Cosmos: A Personal Voyage in my youth (and much later, one of his last works, The Demon-Haunted World - Science As A Candle In The Dark), I became convinced that the concept of science (as well as its multiple strands, of course) is one of the greatest achievements countless human beings have developed ongoingly through the millennia. A scientific mindset, and a view of curiosity on the world and life, is what frequently keeps me sane and sound in these trying times. I also studies biology and achieved a PhD in due time. After working in academic research and for some adjacent companies for a (rather short) time, I became somewhat frustrated with the (lack of decent and sustainable) career oppurtunities there. Although these times are quite in the past, and I work in another field altogehther now (as a healthcare professional / disability assistant), I never lost my interest for the field, and follow current trends and developments in my fields of expertise when I can (genetics, evolutionary biology, immunology).
